About the project

InnoMatSyn, an EU-funded project coordinated by BioNanoNet Forschungsgesellschaft mbH (BNN) with 14 beneficiaries, seeks to create synergies of regional, national and European initiatives for AdMa to boost their impact, in support of development of safe and sustainable materials. The consortium receives 4 million Euros EC-funding to execute the project within the next 3 years.

As of the launch of the project, InnoMatSyn has received a great deal of support from stakeholders from all over Europe.

Purpose of the project

InnoMatSyn has set the following objectives:

  • Synergetic connecting of regional, national and European (funding) initiatives (e.g.: s3, ERA.NETs, national funding bodies, partnerships, EITs, etc.) in the field of “Advanced/Innovative Materials”
  • Development of technology leakage risks assessment guidelines and implementation support for member states
  • Development of knowledge about competences, projects (calls, results), publications, Materials Commons, etc., and knowledge transfer
  • Development of a sustainable European Research-, Development- and Innovation-Ecosystem in the field of Advanced/Innovative Materials

Societal impact

  • Facilitates the development of safe and sustainable materials, crucial for future technologies and societal well-being.
  • Strengthens European sovereignty and competitiveness in critical material technologies.
  • Enhances knowledge transfer and cross-border collaboration in research and innovation.
  • Contributes to standardization, governance, and risk management in materials science.

Main results & insights

  • An interconnected European AdMa ecosystem.
  • AI-based knowledge repository containing data on competences, projects, publications, etc.
  • Technology leakage risk assessment guidelines.
  • Increased collaboration through joint funding calls and knowledge-sharing networks.
  • Strong community engagement with over 100 stakeholders, 36 Letters of Support, and a target ecosystem size of 150+.
