EIT KIC Discovery Day 2025: Explore opportunities for EIT HEI Initiative Call 5

Don’t miss the chance to engage with the EIT Community and prepare your proposal for the fifth Call for Proposals with the EIT Higher Education Initiative.
The EIT Higher Education Initiative invites higher education institutions (HEIs), businesses, research organisations and public bodies to an online EIT KIC Discovery Day on 10 December 2025 at 10.00-12.15 CET. It is an open event designed to explore the diverse opportunities offered by the EIT Community and strengthen proposals for the upcoming call with the EIT Higher Education Initiative.
The event will present the EIT Higher Education Initiative and the thematic scope of the new Call for Proposals 5. Participants will have the opportunity to join two breakout sessions with eight EIT Communities dedicated to raw materials, manufacturing, digital, urban mobility, climate, food, culture and creativity. During the dedicated sessions, programme representatives will share opportunities for HEIs to engage in industry-specific communities and open the floor to questions.
The Discovery Day is open to all: HEI Initiative participants from Cohorts 1–4, new potential partners and stakeholders from across the wider EIT ecosystem. Through knowledge-sharing, networking and direct interaction with Programme Managers, attendees will gain insights, connections and ideas that can enhance their current work and inspire new collaborations.
About EIT Higher Education Initiative
The EIT’s Higher Education Initiative: Innovation Capacity Building for Higher Education is a joint EIT Community activity coordinated by EIT RawMaterials. The initiative is a key objective for the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) as part of its new strategy, the EIT Strategic Innovation Agenda 2021−2027. The initiative aims to support higher education institutions with expertise and coaching, access to the EIT innovation ecosystem and funding, enabling them to develop innovation action plans complementing the needs of individual higher education institutions.
Call for Proposals 5 will be launched in late 2025
The call will have a two-topic approach. Topic 1 will contribute to the EU’s Union of Skills and STEM Education Strategic Plan, driving innovation and entrepreneurship capacity building in STEM fields. Topic 2 will invite the European Universities alliances (EUAs) to further develop their strategic cooperation with the EIT ecosystem.
Higher education institutions (HEIs), businesses, research organisations and public bodies are encouraged to start building partnerships for projects spanning 24 months and a potential budget of EUR 2 million.
