EMC 2026: Securing Europe’s industrial leadership in a new global order
How can Europe secure its industrial leadership in a new global order? The European Manufacturing Conference (EMC) returns for its third edition – in the midst of rapidly shifting global power dynamics, technological advancements and increasing security demands – to address the question.
Our industry is laying the foundation for the new geopolitical and technological reality – from quantum computing and space manufacturing to the strategic importance of dual-use technologies and defence capabilities. On 16-17 September 2026 in Brussels, EMC 2026 will explore the pathways Europe must take to maintain not only its competitiveness but also autonomy and sovereignty.
A critical moment for European manufacturing
Manufacturers face mounting challenges. Skills shortages affect 54% of SMEs in Europe (Euronews), while around 80% of companies experienced global value chain shocks between 2021 and 2023. Rising production costs and cybersecurity threats add further pressure, as European manufacturing firms account for roughly 22% of global security incidents (European Commission).
At the same time, transformative technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computing, alongside sustainable and circular business models, are opening new horizons for growth. Europe’s innovation capacity remains strong, with over 18,000 patent applications filed in advanced manufacturing between 2009 and 2023 (The Joint Research Centre).
A platform for all
The European Manufacturing Conference 2026 (EMC) will feature keynotes, panel discussions and fireside chats exploring:
- How can Europe strengthen its industrial and trade competitiveness on a global scale?
- What breakthrough technologies will transform manufacturing?
- How can research and innovation help future-proof our industry?
- What are the key steps to attract talent and build the next-generation manufacturing workforce?
- Which strategies will unlock investment and scaleup potential in Europe?
- How can Europe embed sustainability into its industrial DNA?
Whether you are developing manufacturing solutions, shaping policy, investing in industrial innovation, or building the businesses of tomorrow, EMC 2026 is where Europe’s manufacturing ecosystem comes together.
