In today’s competitive manufacturing landscape, innovation depends not only on creativity but also on access to knowledge. Yet for many engineers, crucial insights are locked away in millions of patents, standards and reports: difficult to find, read and connect. Scopri.ai, a deep-tech startup from Austria, is tackling this challenge with an adaptive AI platform designed to transform how research and development teams navigate technical information.
Founded in 2024 by Georg Arnold, Tobias Reitmayr and Mateo Primorac, scopri.ai develops a software platform for creating cognitive AI agents: intelligent systems that help engineers discover, analyse and manage complex technical knowledge. Their first solution focuses on AI-powered patent discovery for automotive engineers, offering a faster, smarter way to analyse freedom-to-operate, state-of-the-art technologies, competitor benchmarks and white-spot opportunities.
In my first development project, I had to analyse 386 patents in electric drive technology: it took me two months to make sense of them. That’s time lost for real innovation, for building prototypes and meeting customers.

Turning data overload into actionable insight
Traditional patent research and technical analysis often rely on fragmented tools, manual data collection and outdated workflows. Scopri.ai replaces those methods with an adaptive, AI-driven platform capable of analysing over 170 million patents and scientific publications in real time.
Its technology combines semantic search, natural language understanding and knowledge graph visualisation, enabling users to uncover relationships between technologies, organisations and markets in just minutes. The result: faster R&D decisions, reduced duplication of work and improved collaboration across engineering teams.
By increasing individual researcher performance by at least 15%, the platform directly addresses one of Europe’s biggest productivity challenges in R&D: helping companies stay competitive in an era of accelerated technological change.
Strengthening Europe’s innovation resilience
Across industries such as automotive, machinery and life sciences, manufacturers face growing pressure to innovate faster and more efficiently. Global competitors are scaling their R&D capabilities at unprecedented speed, underscoring the need for European companies to adopt next-generation tools that enhance research productivity and knowledge management.
Scopri.ai’s AI-driven patent discovery and knowledge management solution gives engineers a decisive edge by automating the search, comprehension and synthesis of complex data. Beyond patents, the platform’s architecture is expanding to include service reports, event analyses and conference data, creating a truly holistic system for knowledge discovery.
From prototype to scale
Scopri.ai began as a response to a real engineering problem. After identifying inefficiencies in patent analysis during his work in electric motor design, Mateo Primorac and his team started developing a solution in 2020. Following several iterations with customers from the automotive and life sciences sectors, scopri.ai launched its prototype in 2024, integrating an intuitive interface, secure data structures and connection to ESPACENET, the European patent database.
Early pilot users report significant time savings and deeper insights compared to traditional tools.
The startup recently secured six-figure investment from Angels United and Bernhard Klemen, complemented by funding from Austria WirtschaftsService (AWS) through the Preseed Deep Tech Programme. The funds will help expand scopri.ai’s team and accelerate product development, further strengthening its capacity to bring AI-enabled knowledge systems to market.
Supported by the EIT Manufacturing ecosystem
Since joining the EIT Manufacturing Venture Building Programme organised with Startupbootcamp, scopri.ai has benefited from targeted mentoring, go-to-market support and access to the European manufacturing network. Working with EIT Manufacturing East, the founders have engaged with industry experts and investors at events in Brussels, Vienna, Jena and Ontario, Canada.

Towards an intelligent knowledge ecosystem
As scopri.ai scales, its ambition is to build an ecosystem of cognitive AI agents capable of transforming R&D workflows across manufacturing, life sciences and other knowledge-heavy industries. By connecting scattered data sources and making insights instantly available, scopri.ai is helping Europe build not only smarter products, but smarter ways of creating them.
