EIT Manufacturing is excited to announce its participation in the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, from February 26 to 29, 2024. Renowned as the the world’s largest and most influential connectivity event, MWC is a platform that brings together global mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers, vendors, content owners, and people passionate about the future of technology.

In addition to MWC, EIT Manufacturing will also actively engage in 4YFN, the sister startup event within the MWC. This presents as a unique opportunity for startups, investors, corporations and institutions to foster connections, exchange ideas, and explore potential collaborations. With this year making the 10th anniversary of 4YFN, the event promises to be more expansive and dynamic than ever, with increased halls, stages, speakers, and and a bigger and better programme.

Below you can find a preview of the key activities that EIT Manufacturing will be actively engaged in alongside Mobile World Capital Barcelona, a foundation that promotes the digital development of society. During these days, our team will be participating in several activities, both at MWC and 4YFN, covering themes such as women in manufacturing, EU projects, and open innovation.

Women Leading the Manufacturing Sector

Teresa Hernández, Women TechEU Lead at EIT Manufacturing West, will be participating in a roundtable session focused on women in leadership roles within the manufacturing sector. The session aims to delve into the strategies to harness their potential and explore the imperative need for cultural transformation. Addressing workplace diversity challenges head-on, this session aims to inspire change and promote professional development opportunities.

During this session, Teresa will introduce Women TechEU initiative, led by EIT Manufacturing West. This initiative offers first-class coaching and mentoring to female founders, as well as targeted funding to help take their business to the next level.

Antoni Pijoan, Managing Director of EIT Manufacturing West, will be participating in a pitch session showcasing EU projects, where he will be presenting ENERFAST, a collaborative project led by Tecnalia. This project aims to develop an efficient technology for advanced sintered component fabrication. This gathering will offer participants a unique opportunity to engage with peers and foster connections during a dedicated networking session.

Building the Industrial Future: Collaborating in Open Innovation

Javier González, Business Creation Manager at EIT Manufacturing West, will be moderating this roundtable session at 4YFN featuring Wideum and Prenomics startups. The session will focus on startups driving innovation and addressing challenges in the industrial sector. Additionally, it will also cover lessons learned from collaborative work, provide tips for overcoming obstacles, offer guidance for startups seeking industrial partnerships, and explore the impact of open innovation on industrial advancements.
