Call for Start-ups and Scale-ups: Discover the industry ecosystem in the city

Following the success of the first edition of the Discover Vienna: Manufacturing Edition programme in November 2021, EIT Manufacturing CLC East is again teaming up with the Vienna Business Agency (VBA) to organize for the second time the Discover Vienna: Manufacturing Edition programme, this time during the ViennaUP’22 festival – the largest decentralized start-up festival in Central Europe.
“Discover Vienna: Manufacturing Edition” is an initiative that supports thriving start-ups and scale-ups that provide technologies and solutions for the manufacturing sector with a geographical focus on CEE countries and Austria.
What’s in it for you?
- Up to five days all-expenses-paid stay in Vienna during the ViennaUP’22 festival (except for teams and start-ups/scale-ups based in Vienna).
- Intensive access-to-market programme to get acquainted with the dynamics in Austria and the Viennese markets.
- Up to five days free office space in Vienna.
- Deep dive sessions and introduction to leading Austrian industrial corporates and investors.
- 250.00 EUR Travel voucher provided by EIT Manufacturing CLC East (Not valid for start-ups/scale-ups from Vienna).
- Visibility and international publicity during the pitching competition at the BoostUp! East Finals event within ViennaUP’22 on 1st June 2022.
- The winners of the BoostUp! East Finals will get a fast-track ticket to EIT Manufacturing’s business creation services and deal flow for funding of up to 300,000 Euro.
- The 1st place winner in the category SwitchOn will receive a cash prize of 5,000 Eur from the Vienna Business Agency for go-to-market and/or product development costs related to the Viennese market. The 1st place winner in category Supercharge will receive a service package from aws Industry-Startup.Net, consisting of introductions to the aws corporate network.
Participants of Discover Vienna: Manufacturing Edition compete for dedicated support services provided by EIT Manufacturing CLC East and the Vienna Business Agency and can choose between two support packages – “Intensive Programme in Vienna” (30.05 – 03.06.) and a “Light Programme in Vienna” (31.05 and 01.06). Who can participate?
Submissions need to fit one of the EIT Manufacturing flagship areas as well as the following technology domains: Simulation & Advanced Engineering Tools, Industrial VR/AR, Industrial Robotics, Logistics Tech, Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing), Predictive Maintenance, Advanced Sensors, Advanced Detection (IR/Noise/etc.), Industrial Cybersecurity, Connectivity and IoT Infrastructure, Data analytics/AI, Digital Twins and Green Manufacturing Tech.
Start-ups and Scale-ups can apply in two categories:
Switch On
- An entrepreneurial team or legal entity, with a minimum of two members, is eligible to take part in the competition;
- In case of established legal entity, it should be established between 2020 – 2022;
- Team members or legal entity must be resident in one of the CLC East countries;
- Submission needs to fit at least one of EIT Manufacturing’s Flagship areas;
- The proposed solution should be in min. TRL 6.
Supercharge
- Company must be incorporated in CLC East countries and should not be older than 8 years;
- Applicants have to prove revenue traction (existing reference customers);
- The business development plans (incl. financial aspects) shall be disclosed.
Teams and companies from the following countries are eligible to participate in Discover Vienna: Manufacturing Edition: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
How can I participate?
Submissions will be accepted from 8th March 2022. There will be three cut-off dates – 1st April, 15th April, and 3rd May 2022. After each cut-off date, the applications received until that date will be evaluated and all positively assessed start-ups and scale-ups will be selected for the programme. In total, up to 15 start-ups and scale-ups will be selected to participate in the programme and as soon as this number is reached, the application period will be closed.

About the Organisers

The Vienna Business Agency supports local and international companies in all phases of their business development, providing advice on all corporate issues and helping expats get up and running in Vienna.
