Innovation Funding Catalyst
Supporting manufacturing innovators to identify and apply for EU funding
The Innovation Funding Catalyst (IFC) is a service by EIT Manufacturing to support partners and innovators in the manufacturing sector to identify and apply for EU funding.
Innovation Funding Catalyst fosters and accelerates the growth of innovative ideas and projects in the manufacturing sector. The goal is to connect organizations and provide guidance to increase the chances of success in securing funding.
The service will allow EIT Manufacturing to support the participation of its community members and other European entities in different calls and funding schemes, in particular Horizon Europe, building trust and paving the way to future innovations.
How does it work?
EITM has launched this initiative, to fosters the creation of consortia and competitive proposals, supporting European organizations with 5 main steps:
1. PROFILING: We gather information about the interest, expertise and past experience of our community partner.
2. ALERTING: We screen in advance Work Programme and we provide a curated selection of funding opportunities that can align with our partner’s areas of interest and expertise.
3. EOI: We collect the Expression of Interest (EoI) of our partner.
4. MATCHMAKING: We connect our partner (based on your EOIs) with consortia under creation. We collect consortia’s needs and we put them directly in contact with other organizations in full confidentiality.
5. CREATING: We support the creation of new consortia.

FAQs

EIT Manufacturing may aim to participate in specific projects seen as strategic compared with its goals and mission. In such cases, projects will be in any case led and managed by other organisations different from EIT Manufacturing.
The IFC will initially focus on EU-level funding calls, mainly under the Horizon Europe Framework Programme. EIT Manufacturing will analyse the work programmes to identify forthcoming calls aligned with the community’s R&D funding needs.
No. EIT innovation framework is focused on market-oriented business solutions at TRL6 level or above. Activities with lower TRL are not normally funded by the EIT and managed directly by European Commission. EIT Manufacturing, through the Innovation Funding Catalyst (IFC) will only support members and innovators in identifying and applying for EU funding and achieve a broader spectrum of activities but it is not managing the call process.
Participation within the IFC is not restricted. The intent and purpose of the IFC is to support manufacturing community with lower TRL innovations through other funding schemes, building trust and paving the way to future innovation activities to be potentially funded within higher TRL calls such as EIT Manufacturing ones.
EIT Manufacturing will act as facilitator in the consortia building. As such, EIT Manufacturing will never be responsible for accepting or rejecting a consortium member. EIT Manufacturing will support the networking and the discussion.
EIT Manufacturing will not join all the consortia.
In specific cases, EIT Manufacturing may work together with the consortium members, participating as beneficiary in specific proposals or providing letters of support as well as having a seat in the advisory board.
