EIT Manufacturing and Global Factor unite efforts to boost sustainability in Spanish industry
EIT Manufacturing has teamed up with Global Factor, an international leader in sustainability solutions, to drive a greener and more competitive Spanish industry. This partnership aims to deliver cutting-edge services that blend innovation with sustainability strategies.
The two organisations will leverage their strengths—EIT Manufacturing’s powerful European network and Global Factor’s deep expertise in sustainability—to tackle the urgent challenge of reducing industrial emissions. In 2021, these emissions accounted for approximately 21% of the EU’s total greenhouse gas emissions according to the European Environment Agency, underscoring the critical need for effective solutions.
The collaboration will provide tailored services to companies of all sizes, combining sustainability strategies with advanced technological implementations. This approach aims to address complex goals such as energy efficiency, emissions traceability, material reuse and intralogistics optimisation. By implementing these innovative strategies, companies can not only reduce their environmental impact but also enhance operational efficiency and promote sustainable growth.
We aim to address an urgent industrial need that is currently unmet. This is a pioneering service through which we want to help Spanish companies find real and strategic value in sustainability, with plans that lead to implementable projects in factories, with proofs of concept, that can later be scaled.

The companies have clear goals in their Net Zero strategies, whether short, medium, or long-term. The success of these goals largely depends on adopting innovative solutions tailored to their reality. We see this collaboration as a strategic pillar to address the challenges ahead, and we are committed to providing the necessary tools to achieve a more sustainable future.

Sustainability remains a core principle for both organisations. EIT Manufacturing has backed key initiatives such as ENERFAST, which has commercialised energy-efficient sintering machines and the NDT-Inspection project, which aims to reduce metal waste and CO2 emissions. Notable examples also include ChainTraced, the winning startup of the ‘BoostUp! Bridge’ competition in 2021, which developed a platform for tracking CO2 emissions along the metal production value chain.
Global Factor brings over 20 years of experience in sustainability, with significant projects like DESKAR30, focused on decarbonising the Foundry and Forging value chain by 2030; BIRPLAST, which develops chemical recycling for hard-to-recycle plastics; and FLAMINGo, which explore lightweight aluminum matrix nanocomposites for eco-friendly vehicles.
