YK-PLATFORM

About the project

The project is focused on metal sheet bending process, which is already automatized and managed by a senior operator which knows how to program it and modify the robotic process. The projects aims to reduce the complexity and the rigidity of the current process by installing YK-Platform, a robotic application devoted to robot simplification by using no-code and intelligent instructions along with an user friendly and easy HMI.

The operations are:

  • Analyze the current process operations
  • Develop the required instructions on YK-Platform
  • Virtualize and simulate the process on YK-Platform
  • Install YK-Platform on end-user’s site and perform the application test
  • Modify, adjust and optimize accordingly with the operator in order to make the system easy to use
  • Final test and installation
  • Education of operators

The final result should enable more operators to work on the robotic cell, reducing the time of new robotic programs’ development.

Challenges

“Make the process easier, more flexible and optimized by using a no-code robotic platform.”

Robotics is a versatile and efficient way to automatize certain process, especially repetitive ones. Despite this, robotics is complex and difficult to manage due to many different

programming languages, complex protocols and “not-that- understandable” interfaces. Our goal is to provide a new tool, where a generic operator, without any specifical education on robotics, can manage and modify the robotic application.

Metal sheet bending is a complex process which requires a lot of knowledge to be automatized and simplified. Our expertise in robotics and end-user’s expertise in this process will allow us to achieve this goal.

Solutions

Our solution consists in:

  • virtually simulating robotic processes in order to test them, avoiding mistakes and waste;
  • programming the robotic cell (both virtual and the real) with an intuitive an brand-agnostic and no- code language (no robotic experience required);
  • automatically generating safe and optimised trajectories for robots so that operators don’t have to face complex calculation of coordinates;
  • managing the robotic cell insights, monitor the production and interconnect the robotic cell with MES and/or ERP

This will be implemented by using both on-site operations and virtualized and simulated processes.

After the success of the installation, our company will educate end-user’s operators.

Expected results

  • Reducing time of developing a new robotic process form days to hours
  • Reduce the complexity of robotic program management in order to allow more operators to work on it
  • Optimising and standardising the quality of robotics process despite operator experience
  • Make automation suitable also for quick and urgent productions
