The Knowledge Capsule, an online session organized by EIT Manufacturing in early June 2025, was specifically designed for its Core Members of the Thematic Working Group on Circular Economy. The session focused on the evolving skills landscape in circular manufacturing and featured highlights from EU-funded projects, expert panel discussions with representatives from academia and industry, and an overview of relevant learning opportunities offered by the EIT Manufacturing Academy.
A key highlight of the session was the joint participation of two EU-funded projects—RENÉE (GA 101138415) and R3GROUP (GA 101091869)—which collaborated during the event to exchange knowledge and foster cross-project learning on workforce upskilling and reskilling in the manufacturing sector.
RENÉE’s contribution was presented by the Teaching Factory Competence Center, which showcased ongoing work on identifying key skills and competencies for remanufacturing environments. The presentation emphasized the role of digital tools, human-machine interaction, and worker empowerment in supporting the green and digital transition of industry. Real-life use cases were shared to demonstrate how targeted training and practical interventions address remanufacturing challenges while strengthening the role of workers.
R3GROUP’s contribution, delivered by the Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iași, complemented this perspective with insights from the domains of agile production and rapid reconfiguration. The project aims to upskill workers to respond swiftly to disruptions and evolving demands in a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) environment, highlighting the importance of adaptability and resilience.
This joint activity between RENÉE and R3GROUP not only enriched the discussion during the Knowledge Capsule but also served as a concrete example of inter-project collaboration that amplifies impact and accelerates innovation in workforce transformation across Europe.
Last but not least, a presentation from the EIT Manufacturing Academy took place during the event. This session featured the resources and tools offered by the 𝗘𝗜𝗧 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆, reinforcing the importance of 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲-𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲’𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁.
