Anisotropic fast PROtotyping of MAGnetic materials

About the project

AProMag aims to prototype, validate and bring to market technology for fast prototyping of rotors for brushless DC motors and actuators, using 3D printing in a magnetic field.

Purpose of the project

New technology significantly shortens the manufacturing time of final products – making it easier to test design concepts and greatly reduce the cost of conventional injection moulding tools.

Societal impact

New project methods will increase jobs done per year, yielding a higher profit percentage and significant capture of onward manufacturing of new permanent magnets..

Main results & insights

We developed a new technology for fast prototyping of NdFeB rotors using 3D printing in the magnetic field, producing the final product with required magnetic properties.
