EIT Manufacturing contributes to the success of Advanced Factories 2022

Advanced Factories 2022 has closed the latest edition with successful figures in terms of participants and exhibitors, with a record number of 20.654 congress attendees. Once again, EIT Manufacturing has participated in the leading automation event that showcases the latest developments in the industry and discusses emerging technologies such as cognitive Intelligence Artificial, 5G, and digital twins. As a strategic partner, EIT Manufacturing has contributed significantly to this success through different initiatives.

“Advanced Factories has become a reference and consolidated event in Spain in the manufacturing sector and EIT Manufacturing, as the largest innovation community in manufacturing in Europe, must have an active role and be part of it”, said Antoni Pijoan, Managing Director of EIT Manufacturing West.

All the pillars of the knowledge triangle – innovation, education and bussines creation- contributed to Advance Factories. Teresa Hernández, Innovation Manager of EIT Manufacturing West, participated in the ‘Industry 5.0: Technology and Society’ panel joint with other experts to discuss about the changes that the industry needs to address to minimize its carbon footprint, “Industry is responsible for the 31% of the emissions that generates a negative impact in our planet. It means more than 15 billion tons of gases emitted annually into our atmosphere. We have to assume the consequences of this impact and look for disruptive ways to solve it”, pointed out Hernández.

On the other hand, in the round table co-organized with ACCIÓ about ‘Reskilling and Upskilling: involve talent’, the proposals of experts and participants on training initiatives, reconversion, and empowerment of talent despite the digital gaps that exist today were known, “Education can never be understood as an expense. It is an investment in the talent of the future”, concluded Javier González, Education Developer of EIT Manufacturing West.

Lastly, Gala Maturana, Business Creation Manager of EIT Manufacturing West, was part of the jury and participated in the ceremony of the Factories of the Future Awards 2022. These awards recognized the work, leadership and transformation of those companies that invest in innovation in the industry automation and digitalization.
