New to BoostUp!?

BoostUp! is EIT Manufacturing’s start-up competition format and has fostered business creation in manufacturing across Europe since 2020. In 2023, the competition comes to Ireland for the first time to specifically address the Irish manufactuting industry – we’re looking forward to your application!

If you make it to the finalist applicants shortlisted from the first phase, the Business Creation team of EIT Manufacturing Central will support you up to four months to achieve your goals.

The three finalist applicants shortlisted from the second phase will receive an exclusive invitation to join a matchmaking event in Europe and a prize award to support their go-to-European-market strategy.

Who can apply?

If a legal entity for the application submitted is not already established:

  • An entrepreneurial team, with a minimum of two members, is eligible to take part in the competition
  • Team members must be residents in Ireland
  • Each team or team member can submit only one application
  • The business development plans for the legal entity to be established
  • The application package should include a completed application form, pitch deck, and logo

If a legal entity for the application submitted has already been established:

  • Company must be incorporated in Ireland
  • Applicants have to prove revenue traction (existing reference customers)
  • The business development plans (incl. financial aspects) shall be disclosed
  • The application package should include a completed application form, pitch deck, and logo.

Please note: Individuals or companies that applied to the EIT Manufacturing BoostUp! 2020 competition, in the EIT Manufacturing BoostUp! 2021 RIS competition and in the BoostUp! 2022 competition are not eligible.

What is the competition about?

BoostUp! 2023 – IRELAND edition is open to applications from Irish spin-offs and start-ups with solutions in the realm of manufacturing technologies.

In particular, submissions need to fit one of the following EIT Manufacturing focus areas as well as the following technology domains:

  • Simulation & Advanced Engineering Tools
  • Industrial VR/AR
  • Industrial Robotics
  • Logistics Tech
  • Additive Manufacturing (3D printing)
  • Predictive Maintenance
  • Advanced Sensors
  • Advanced Detection (IR/Noise/etc.)
  • Industrial Cybersecurity
  • Connectivity and IoT Infrastructure
  • Data analytics/AI
  • Digital Twins
  • Ecological and Social Sustainability

How you can take part

The following documentation must be submitted by the applicants through the submission platform no later than the call deadline 30 April 2023, 23:59 CET:

  • Application form
  • Company Pitch Deck in Microsoft PowerPoint format; such file will be used as supporting presentation in case the startup is shortlisted for the 2nd phase: the document must be tailored to a 4 minutes presentation and the following details shall be clearly outlined:
    – target markets and description of the main(s) applicative use case(s) addressed by the company offerings and technologies;
    – team and company organization;
    – existing business traction (i.e. recurring revenues from commercial activities);
    – business development plans (incl. financial aspects) and go-to-European-market strategy.
  • Company logo in high quality graphic format (this will be used for the call promotional campaign) – if applicable
  • Company Registration Certificate – for established legal entities

NOTE: Only applications submitted through the online link (please see below) before the deadline will be accepted and considered. The organisers reserve the right to extend the submission deadline; any extension of the deadline will be communicated to the public on the competition website.

Eligibility and admissibility check: until 8 May 2023
First phase: Evaluation of proposals: until 15 May 2023
Announcement of Second phase shortlist: 16 May 2023
Second phase: live pitch session: 20 June 2023
Communication of results: A jury deliberation meeting will take place directly after the pitch session. Right after the jury decision is taken, the results will be announced publicly during the event.
