Decarbonising transportation

“Instead of trying to decarbonize the kilometre, you need to think in a disruptive way about eliminating kilometres.”

Description
We bring a lot of people together to understand what we can do to decarbonize transportation. But then, after years of putting the strategies together, working with different partners and so on, we know that we still have a gap. After a few years from now, we will still have a gap. There will be kilometres that will still have a greenhouse gas emissions intensity on them. And we don’t know what to do with them. So the light bulb is signalling that instead of trying to decarbonize the kilometre, you need to really think in a disruptive way about eliminating kilometres. It’s not about the reduction of kilometres, the thing is producing where the consumers are. Producing where the retailers are instead of producing 2000 kilometres away from that. The supply chain cannot survive by only trying to do reduction here and there, it has to be disruptive thinking about the supply chain in order to deliver the decarbonised future of transportation…Or non transportation.”
