Government support to R&D initiatives
“Why are companies not investing in R&D? Maybe they don’t see the clear benefits for the short term.”
Description
“Another factor would be a push for R&D activities, from the government point of view. We need to encourage people to do more R&D and we will need to make it easy for people to have access to these R&D initiatives, internally in the company. I had a comparison of South Korea, Israel and Spain, some time ago, in terms of global spending on R&D, and the correlation that exists with the Gross National Product per capita, and there was a huge difference. Why are companies not investing in R&D? Maybe they don’t see the clear benefits for a short term. So we have to be able to encourage that they see benefits in the short term.”
